Supporting Hawkhurst in Bloom’s Smuggler’s Cove Transformation
Share

Supplying our 40mm Shingle just down the road to Hawkhurst in Bloom, for the upgrade of their Smuggler's Cove Site, a show piece designed around the history of Smugglers in the area.
This was the first project undertaken by Hawkhurst in Bloom, to revive an overgrown site opposite Tesco. The team cleared the site, laid anti-weed matting and covered it with shingle, then planted three tubs and installed a life size metal sculpture of a smuggler. The smugglers theme was chosen to reflect the centuries-old link between Hawkhurst village and the infamous Hawkhurst gang who operated in the South East of England for many years.
The team recently upgraded the area with the addition of a small rowing boat, made in two halves, to give the appearance of an abandoned smuggling boat, which has now been filled with plants. "To enhance the overall smuggler concept the boat has been named "Free Spirit" in keeping with the alcohol that was the major item being smuggled along our coast."
