Transforming a Community Garden at Carillon Cottage

Carillon Cottage is a volunteer-led service offering help and support to the whole community, regardless of faith, in the Wadhurst area. It is owned and managed by Wadhurst Parish Church.

Since October 2024, Jaime Grounsell has been working hard to transform the traditional cottage garden, with extensive re-planting and cutting back. Jaime reached out to Gardenscape as the soil was very depleted, we therefore donated some much-needed nourishment in the form of our Peat Free Planting Compost. A 10mm screened green waste compost, PAS100 certified, packed with nutrients and serves as a wonderful mulch.

“Lovingly tended by a few stalwart volunteers, Carillon’s cottage garden is open to anyone who wants to leave behind the busy high street and simply sit and rest in its peaceful beauty any weekday and Saturday morning. In support of the work of Carillon Cottage, the garden is available to hire for children’s parties, garden parties, fundraising events or even as a quiet space for meetings or therapy sessions in the summer.”

Services provided by Carillon Cottage include; a Driving Service, particularly for hospital appointments, NHS Hearing Aid Support, photocopying & laminating, wheelchair hire, jigsaw library, CAB/anti-scam advice, ticket sales, lavatory & baby changing, food bank & recycling, Wadhurst Open Gardens.
