Pure Soil Conditioner Mixes

Pure Soil Conditioner Mixes

We mix our soil conditioners together (50/50) to create nutrient rich compost that will optimise plant growth when dug into beds and borders before planting, or used to top off existing areas as a mulch.

If you would like to improve the drainage in the media visit our Mixes with added grit / perlite page.

  1. Manure / Peat Free Planting Compost Dry
Manure / Peat Free Planting Compost
    From £85.80

A 50:50 mix of well-rotted stable manure and green waste compost. Both elements provide vital nutrients, and the 10mm screened compost lightens the media making it easy to dig into the soil.

We source our manure from local stables and it will be either shavings or straw based. Whilst this is a natural product and therefore consistency will vary, we endeavour to ensure that all manure delivered to our customers is well rotted. Please be aware that it may still retain some heat so we recommend that you put the growing media down a few weeks before planting. If using as a mulch be careful not to allow the manure mix to touch the stalks of the plant.

Clay soil? If digging in to clay soil choose our mix with added grit to cut through the clay and aid drainage.

  2. Manure / Mushroom Compost Dry
    Manure / Mushroom Compost
    From £85.80

A 50:50 mix of stable manure with manure based mushroom compost. Both elements are manure based and so provide the vital nutrients needed to boost plant growth.

We source our mushroom compost direct from the mushroom farm and it is of a consistent quality.  Remember that the mushroom growing process involves the addition of lime to manure and therefore the mix may be slightly alkaline.  For this reason it should not be used on acid loving plants.

Our manure comes purely from horse stables and will be either straw or shavings based.  Whilst we do turn and process the manure so that it is well rotted, we do not shred it and so you may find the odd item that might end up in a stableyard manure heap! Please be assured that we do our best to remove as many items as we can see.

Manure will retain alot of heat when rotting down.  Please therefore be careful to ensure that the media has cooled down before planting.  When mulching avoid touching the base of the plant stems to avoid scroching.

Clay soil? If digging in to clay soil choose our mix with added grit to cut through the clay and aid drainage.
